An
Overview of KAIROS
The
word “Kairos” means “the Lord’s time.” It
is a special time which extends from 4:00p.m. on a Thursday
until 6:00p.m. the following Sunday evening and is spent
at Camp Egan in Tahlequah, OK.
During the Lord’s time a team of students and faculty
members from Cascia Hall and Bishop Kelley High schools give
talks, lead discussions, activities, prayer and celebrate the
Eucharist with the participants.
The Kairos retreat program is an adaptation of the Cursillo
for seniors high school, but one extraordinarily appropriate
and cohesive in its theology and philosophy. Originally called
the “Christian Awakening Program,” it was developed
in 1965 by a team of priests, brothers and laymen.
KAIROS Participants and Team
Each retreat consists of 34 student candidates from Bishop
Kelley and Cascia Hall. Six student team members and four adult
team members plus a director and assistant director from each
school lead the retreat. |
